| The Polynesian Cultural Center is considered by many
to be the most authentic recreation of ancient Polynesia available anywhere
today. The images, history, and hospitality of seven Pacific cultures come
alive at the 42-acre Polynesian Cultural Center. Hear them present the
intriguing details of tribal tattooing, ancient transoceanic navigation, and
the preservation of history without a written language. The Center’s evening
culminates with a spectacular night show, “Horizons”, with a cast of over
100 dancers. The spectacle’s fire knife champions and fire walkers add
dramatic accents to an unforgettable evening. |
Horizons - Spectacular Night Show with a Cast of
Over 100
"Horizons", the largest Polynesian revue of song and dance in the
world, features over 100 native performers from all corners of the
Pacific. Dressed in native attire, Polynesians share their histories,
traditions and spirit in the same way their ancestors did for centuries.
The spectacle's fire knife champions and fire walkers offer dramatic
accents to an unforgettable evening. Reservations are highly recommended
for the world's largest and finest Polynesian revue. Closer, center seats
are included in the Ambassador Package. Other ticket holders may upgrade
to similar "preferred" seating.
All of the excitement and pageantry has been captured on compact-disc and
video recordings that are available for purchase at the IMAX™ theatre's
Hukilau Store. |

IMAX
- The Living Sea
Featuring music by Grammy-winning artist Sting and narration by
actress Meryl Streep, the 40-minute motion picture is presented on the
Center's seven-story IMAX™ screen. The Academy Award-nominated film
takes viewers on a deep-sea journey of discovery about currents, tides,
water cycles and how the ocean waters of the world are linked by them.
Audiences feel the power of the ocean as they surf thundering waves in
Hawai'i, track humpback whales in the open ocean, ride in a Coast Guard
rescue boat, and take a guided tour of Palau and its giant clam farms
and mysterious Jellyfish Lake. The filming of "The Living Sea"
represents the realization of a long-time dream for director Greg
MacGillivray, who began his career in movies more than 25 years ago with
award-winning surfing films. Renowned oceanographer and deep-ocean
explorer Robert D. Ballard served as academic advisor to "The Living
Sea" production team.
- Dolphins
Dolphins touch our hearts in ways perhaps we don't understand. They
have much to teach us about our world, and scientists everywhere are
watching and listening. Our film is a window into an incredibly complex
realm where dolphins are just one citizen of a magnificent water
kingdom. From the dazzling coral reefs of the Bahamas to the wind-swept
seas of Patagonia, Dolphins takes you on an underwater adventure with
inquisitive Atlantic spotted dolphins, acrobatic dusky dolphins, and the
familiar, bottle-nosed dolphin. While few of us will ever have the
chance to encounter a dolphin in the wild, the audience will feel like
they are swimming alongside some of the most graceful and extraordinary
creatures on earth. Viewers will meet a young woman scientist, Dr.
Kathleen Dudzinski, and her two colleagues, mentor Dr. Bernd Wursig and
Dr. Alejandro Acevedo-Gutierrez, as they lead us on an exploration into
their fascinating world. Dudzinski and her colleagues conduct their
research with dolphins in the wild, a far more strenuous,
time-consuming, even dangerous endeavor, than studying dolphins in
captivity. Featuring a soundtrack with music from Grammy Award-winning
singer and songwriter Sting, Dolphins will capture your imagination and
you will gain new respect for the ocean and importance of scientific
research to its preservation
